This versatile rhizome is widely used medicinally in massage herbal compresses & body wraps for aches & pains and as a supplement for other internal applications such as natural liver protection properties.
The active ingredients
(anti-oxidant and anti-edemic) are the curcuminoids (e. q. curcumin), encourages
bile and prevents the formation of gallstones. It also contains essential oils,
cinnamaldehyde and starch/carbohydrates.
The rhizome powder
has powerful anti-viral and anti-inflammation properties (used in Hepatitis
B and C). Wan Chuk Modlook smooths skin, excellent herbal treatment for liver
and kidney disorders, decreases fever, eases stiff muscles, increases sex drive,
excellent for nursing mothers, prevent gallstones, assists hormonal balance
system, purifies blood, decreases body perspiration/sweating/body odor
It is
used against acne (inhibits bacterial growth);

used to normalize digestion.

breast milk production in nursing mothers.

For acne/pimples/blemishes:
Wan Chak Modlook (shu gu
jiang huang) 3 gr, fresh tamarind 10 gr.
Put in a pre warmed cup and add boiling water.
Cover and let stand for 10 minutes.
Use as tea every morning.
Eat plenty of vegetable and fruit and avoid fatty food.
If there is a bile duct obstruction it can increase bile secretion and may create inflammation.
With gall bladder disease as it will increase the flow of bile, creating a possible flare-up.
On blood-thinning medications note this herb has blood thinning effect.
Long
term large quantity internal usage may produce stomach ulcers •
Do not use during pregnancy; (may cause uterus contraction)
