This versatile rhizome is widely used medicinally in massage herbal compresses & body wraps for aches & pains and as a supplement for other internal applications such as natural liver protection properties.

The active ingredients (anti-oxidant and anti-edemic) are the curcuminoids (e. q. curcumin), encourages bile and prevents the formation of gallstones. It also contains essential oils, cinnamaldehyde and starch/carbohydrates.

The rhizome powder has powerful anti-viral and anti-inflammation properties (used in Hepatitis B and C). For acne/pimples/blemishes:
Wan Chak Modlook (shu gu jiang huang) 3 gr, fresh tamarind 10 gr.
Put in a pre warmed cup and add boiling water.
Cover and let stand for 10 minutes.
Use as tea every morning.
Eat plenty of vegetable and fruit and avoid fatty food.

• If there is a bile duct obstruction it can increase bile secretion and may create inflammation.

• With gall bladder disease as it will increase the flow of bile, creating a possible flare-up.

• On blood-thinning medications note this herb has blood thinning effect.

Long term large quantity internal usage may produce stomach ulcers •
